CODEPINK Kansas
Women Against War and Lies
Sunflower seeds
During recess at an April 24-26, 2012 pre-trial hearing in a small courtroom in Fort Meade, Maryland, defense attorney David Coombs addressed supporters of his client, army whistle-blower Pfc Bradley Manning : "Thank you for continuing to bring the issue into the public eye. It means a lot to me, it means a lot to my client."
Plant Seeds of Truth,
FREE BRADLEY MANNING!
Pfc Bradley Manning is alleged to have exposed US military war-crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan to Wikileaks. Starting this spring, and in continuation of the spirit of Earth Day, let us as citizens show our solidarity with a brave whistleblower.

As a launch, CODEPINK Kansas will be mailing out a hundred or so packets of Sunflower Seeds to folks all around the country to plant. If you would like to take part in this collaborative project, please email me at priticodepink@gmail.com with your mailing address and I will mail a packet to you. And of course if you would rather skip the mailing step and just go out and buy a packet of sunflower seeds on your own then that's fine also.

What to do

Very simple! Plant some Sunflower seeds in a sunny spot. When the plants (or plant, if you happen to live in New York or somewhere and can only plant one in a pot on your windowsill!) get a couple of inches tall, take a picture. When they bloom, take another picture. Email both pictures to priticodepink@gmail.com and please let me know where you live if I don't know already.
Visitors
The finished project will coincide with Manning's court martial, which will most probably be in September/October, but possibly later in the year. Sometime during his court martial, some of us from Kansas will be traveling to Fort Meade with the Plant Seeds of Truth Project to install it as a collective voice of love and appreciation for both the native Sunflower and America's son, Bradley Manning.
Giving away seeds
More information on this collaborative project will become available as things shape up. And please send me any questions or other creative ideas you might have to make this project more effective.

Peace and Solidarity!
